Positive Behaviour Support
  • Positive Behaviour Support

We believe positive change happens within community. By understanding what sits behind behaviours of concern, we work with you, your family, and your support network to create practical strategies that build confidence, strengthen relationships, and support a life of connection and belonging.

Our Positive Behaviour Support Services

Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is an evidencebased, personcentred framework used within the NDIS to understand the function of behaviour and to promote safe, meaningful participation in daily life. At Kama Care, we work collaboratively with you, your family, and your support network to identify why behaviours of concern occur and to develop practical, leastrestrictive strategies that improve quality of life.

Our practitioners complete a comprehensive assessment that considers the whole person, their strengths, communication needs, routines, environment, cultural context, and support relationships. Using this information, we develop an individualised Behaviour Support Plan focused on:

  • Prevention and early intervention

Adjusting environments, routines, and supports to reduce triggers and increase predictability.

  • Skill development

Building communication, emotional regulation, daily living, and social skills that support safer and more effective ways to express needs.

  • Positive and proactive strategies

Strengthening what works well, promoting independence, and reducing the need for restrictive practices.

  • Capacity building for support networks

Providing training, coaching, and guidance for families, carers, and support workers to ensure consistent, safe, and confident implementation.

Our goal is to support positive change, reduce behaviours of concern, and enhance participation, wellbeing, and connection across home, community, and everyday life.

What is NDIS?

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is an Australian Government initiative designed to support people living with disability, as well as their families and carers, to access the services and supports they need to live more independently and achieve their goals.

The NDIS provides eligible Australians under the age of 65 who have a permanent and significant disability with reasonable and necessary supports tailored to their individual needs. These supports help participants with everyday activities, community participation, education, employment, health, wellbeing, and building greater independence.

The NDIS takes a lifelong approach by investing in personalised supports that help people with disability achieve better outcomes over time. Having the right support provider can make a significant difference in understanding your plan, accessing appropriate services, and making the most of your NDIS funding.

Who is eligible for the NDIS Plan/Funding?

You may be eligible if you:

  • Are under 65 years of age when you apply
  • Are an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or hold a Protected Special Category Visa
  • Have a permanent and significant disability that affects your daily life

The NDIS application process includes an assessment to understand your support needs and determine your eligibility. For more information, visit the official NDIS website or contact us for guidance throughout the eligibility and application process.
